Cheap Hotel in Venice - the Martello

Cheap Hotel in Venice - the Martello

As we all know, hotels in Venice are priced at ridiculously high rates especially in the summer season, but if you are lucky, you can find some discount accommodation in Venice.  Whether it’s a one star to three star hotel in Venice or a hostel, you can visit the beautiful city of Venice and manage to stay within budget.  Venice is not to be missed after all!  Another good find for a cheap hotel in Venice is on the Piazzale Mezzacapo 3, Marghera 30175 (on the mainland) called the the Hotel Martello.  It is nearby the train and bus stations, close to the city center.

Rooms at the Hotel Martello run from  57 euros for a single to four bed room for 124 euros.  It’s a two star hotel in Venice.  The hotel rooms are basic, clean and spacious.  It’s a good value for the price and each room is air conditioned and you can control that.  Also, you get a direct phone line, satellite television and digital safety boxes.  The staff is very friendly and professional.  The owners definitely care about the place and want you to make their home in Venice – your home.  There is also parking available if you need it.  The bathrooms are clean and modern.  Internet is available in the lobby.

Drawbacks:  There aren’t a lot of drawbacks to staying at the Hotel Martello, if you don’t mind walking to visit restaurants, the shops and the sites.  Of course, though, you will be walking because you are in Venice after all.  However, the guests who stay here are happy with the value of the hotel for the money, the cleanliness of the hotel, the big rooms and the services provided by the enthusiastic staff.  However, you should not be worried about the location because most is in walking distance and the area is safe.

Value for money, Hotel Martello, a two star hotel,  is one of the better cheap hotels in Venice.  If you can’t afford a luxury hotel in Venice, at least try staying at something safe, clean and nice enough.  Again, while in Venice, how much actual time will you spend in your hotel room?  Clean and great staff.  Be sure while in Venice to take some side trips to Padua  and Treviso – which is breathtaking and the islands of Murano.  So much to see and do in Venice.

Cheap Hotels in Venice - the Reiter Hotel

Cheap Hotels in Venice - the Reiter Hotel

If you are looking for cheap hotel in Venice, the 2 star Reiter Hotel, hotel or hostel, might be the place for you.  It is very basic, (what you’d expect for cheap accommodation in Venice) and clean enough for your lodging requirement to suit your budget. It is priced from $27.88 per night or 30.00 € for a twin.

Centrally located, about 10 minutes by boat from the Piazzo San Marco, the ferry leaves about every 10 minutes.  The Reiter Hotel is situated in the main shopping district in the Lido where you will find restaurants, tourist shops, and grocery shops.  A handy budget idea is to eat here at restaurants on the Lido where it is cheaper than on the mainland. You will have to take a ferry which takes about 20 minutes to get to the mainland.

The rooms are small, like most of the cheap hotels in Venice, a bit crowded by large furniture.  However, you can book a larger double if you are willing to pay more for your hotel room.  It all depends on how much you have budgeted for your hotel accommodations in Venice.  Rooms are clean and basic, but you notice some water stains in the corners of the ceilings, a common problem in Venice due to the humidity and proximity to the sea.  The bathrooms you will find are spacious and come with amenities such as soap, shampoo, towels, and a hairdryer.  There are also TVs in your hotel room but no refrigerator.  Some rooms come with a balcony/windows.  Note, there is no elevator in the hotel.  Breakfast is not included in the price of your room.  There is also free high speed internet to use for your convenience.

If you can’t find a room at the Reiter Hotel, they will suggest their sister hotel, the Villa Parco which is nearby with prices starting at $25 per night.  The hotel staff speaks a bit of English and are quite friendly.  The Reiter Hotel would classify more as a good hostel rather than a hotel.  It’s nice enough.  It’s bland, basic, not exactly charming, but it depends how much time you are going to spend in your hotel room and, if you want to see all of Venice, I predict you are not going to be spending a lot of time in your cheap hotel room in Venice.
